Decentralized program providing emission testing equipment, data management and ongoing support.
Opus provides the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) with state-of-the-art data management systems and services for its NYVIP2 emission testing program. As part of the contract, we sold 10,000 on-board diagnostic (OBD) inspection analyzers for motor vehicle emission and safety inspections statewide. The program is the largest in the country and is fully funded by fees collected from the inspection stations with no cost charged to the State of New York.
Our data management system includes a communications network to connect over 10,000 inspection stations, and processes more than 11 million inspections each year. Opus maintains inspection equipment at all stations and provides call center support for inspection stations, repair technicians and the motoring public.
Opus developed a sophisticated “E-Signature” trigger system to look for data anomalies in real time to significantly reduce fraudulent inspections and notify Opus and our DMV state partner of any anomalies.
