A vehicle inspection and certification program with up to 39 inspection stations.
Opus operates the Punjab Vehicle Inspection and Certification System (PVICS) for inspection of public service vehicles, including taxis, rickshaws and buses, under an exclusive 20-year contract. When fully implemented, the program will operate a network of inspection stations of varying sizes throughout the province inspecting over 750,000 vehicles, twice per year.
All inspected vehicles receive a unique windscreen sticker, which contains an embedded RFID tag, allowing law enforcement officials to access its inspection status. The sticker is fraud-proof and can’t be duplicated. Data stored within the sticker is associated uniquely with the vehicle, and can be read remotely for identification and enforcement purposes.
